Anahata is the Sanskrit word for the heart chakra, the space between higher and lower realms where the forces unite as one. The heart forms the crucible for the descent of grace and rise of aspiration. Another translation is the new vibration created when two opposing forces come together. This painting got its name because underlying the whole painting is the idea that polarity created the world as we know it, and at the core of the universe is love.
